QUALIFICATIONS, INTERESTS AND EXPERIENCE

Luke Rogers has a unique combination of GIS experience and engineering knowledge that he brings together to create custom applications for industry. While an undergraduate at the University of Washington working with the Department of Natural Resources, Luke designed many custom ArcInfo and ArcView GIS applications for landscape management. For the past two years, Luke has worked as a GIS consultant providing unique solutions for data management.

Working with a local engineering firm and the Washington State Ferries he developed a custom user interface to manage WSF inventories and life-cycle cost/replacement data. Working with the Port of Seattle, Luke led a design team to develop a custom ArcView interface to provide information to construction contractors.

Currently, Luke is pursuing a Masters degree at the University of Washington focusing on GIS technology and creating new engineering design tools in the GIS environment. Luke's commitment to GIS technology and development has led him to learn the Java programming language which provides him the ability to provide highly customized interfaces for any GIS package. In addition to working as a GIS consultant and pursuing a Masters degree, Luke also serves as the University of Washington, Forest Engineering department System Administrator. Luke's system administration experience includes NT network construction, NT and UNIX server administration, system backups and Internet connectivity.

Phil Hurvitz has nearly 10 years of experience working with GIS. He received a master's degree in forest resource management in 1994, specializing in GIS applications in natural resources. His working experience spans a range from natural resources GIS (U of W College of Forest Resources, City of Seattle Cedar River Watershed, Makah Forestry), through

municipal GIS applications (City of SeaTac), to education and training (U of W College of Forest Resources, U of W Extension GIS Certificate program, Green River Community College, ESRI-Certified ArcView instructor).

Phil has extensive experience in GIS system administration, including setup and support of server hardware and software, including web servers. Several years ago he developed a prototype ArcView IMS application for the U of W's experimental forest. Although the application was never implemented, he gained useful experience in setup and configuration of ArcView IMS on both Windows and UNIX platforms.
